To engineer solutions to help others, first, one must put themselves in the other person's shoes. This lesson focused on different challenges some people face and how that can make routine tasks more challenging. They listened to drawing instructions with a blind-fold on to understand what the visually-impaired may experience. The practiced buttoning a shirt and tying shoes with limitations in their fine motor skills. They listened to a coloring lesson in Spanish and had to do their best understanding another language. Practicing empathy will make them better engineers as they develop novel solutions to help others.
