The students reinforced their coding skills while simultaneously learning about different marine animals. Check out the marine animal parades they designed and coded themselves!
BUILDING A SUBMERSIBLE
What determines whether things sink or float? Turns out it is not the mass and instead, it's all about the density! Blankner students were challenged to build submersibles with the least amount of mass and volume that can retrieve packages to complete missions!
MAPPING THE OCEAN FLOOR
Blankner Bulldogs learn how to explore the ocean, create underwater maps using probes or sonar, and discover what is hiding in their ocean!
WATER FILTRATION
Elementary students are using the engineering design process as they create filters to help clean the ocean! Ask your students what natural things are in the environment that help stop or clean pollution...
LEARNING THE WATER CYCLE
Students have spent the last couple weeks learning about the water cycle the importance of that cycle on our planet. They created their own water cycle in a cup and watched it rain. They also participated in an eco-drama as a creative way to reinforce their new knowledge...Here comes the sun, little darling!
CORAL REEFS
The students kicked off their first lesson by learning how marine biologists study coral reefs by conducting field studies and how to identify a healthy coral reef versus unhealthy coral reef. They practiced their observation skills and learned how they can help in their community keeping our local coral reefs safe and healthy.
BACK TO SCHOOL and the new theme for this year is...
Keep an eye out here to watch all the fun and exciting ways students will learn and explore the ocean deep!
