Comet ZTF is currently visible in the night sky and may be seen through the first few days of February. You can see it now if you find a dark place with no city lights and have a pair of binoculars or telescope. It won't return again for another 50,000 years, if at all. That's how long it takes Comet ZTF to orbit the Sun, which means that Neanderthals still walked the Earth when it last whizzed by, during the last Ice Age. More details about how exactly to spot this comet in the article linked below!

It was a very busy week in the fabrication lab as we finished the unit on astronaut training and creating mission patches. We also welcomed in the Spanish students to create pinatas, cooking shows, and World Cup foosball tables.
Mrs. Miller and Blankner's Living Lab made OCPS news this week! Mrs. Miller came up with the idea several years ago and has grown the lab to 9 creatures, including a bearded dragon, snake, hermit crab, 2 geckos, a tortoise, 2 rabbits, and a guinea pig. Teachers can check out animals for their classroom to augment their curriculum or as a reward for their students. Mrs. Miller also sponsors the Creature Club which allows 5th-8th grade students to come in to the Living Lab every morning and help care for the animals. Check out the video below to see what it's all about! |
