December Design Challenge: The Big Meltdown

The Big MeltdownChallenge: Can you build a shelter for a snowman that will stop the thermal energy from getting in?
Students worked in small groups to create a plan and determine what materials are better insulators vs. conductors while building their shelter for their snowman.  The shelters were created and tested.  It takes 7 minutes to melt a snowman in our lab without a shelter.  Students were able to be creative in their designs. The winning teams received tickets to Gaylord Palms ICE.
